Humans are one of the existing species in the world of Shuumatsu no Valkyrie.

Overview [ ]
Humans are native to Midgard and can be usually be found there. However, since the souls of the dead are brought to Valhalla by the Valkyries, they can also be found within Heaven. Humans can also be send to Hell if they break the laws of the gods, being Nostradamus the only human to ever be send to Helheim, for the crime of nearly destroying the Bifrost.
As beings created in the image of the gods, humans have a very similar appearance to their creators.
Origins and History [ ]
The current details of humanity’s origins are not explicit, but at one point (about 7.000.000 years before Ragnarok) in the Land of the Gods, one deity created two beings in his image to populate the Earth and rule over the animals, whom he named Adam and Eve. Sometime after this, a demon framed Eve as revenge for turning down his advances. In court, he falsely accused her of eating fruit from the Tree of Knowledge. Eve was ruled guilty and banished from the Garden of Eden, and Adam decided to go with her. After leaving heaven and going to Earth, Adam and Eve would live there and have many children, such as Cain and Abel.
From that point on, humanity’s history is almost identical to what is known in real life from historical science, as well as from various myths and religions.

Humanity’s culture is identical to real life, varying greatly depending on the location and time period.
Powers & Abilities [ ]
Golden Age: Once a human soul arrives at the afterlife, they will have the appearance that they had during their golden age: the age in which they were at their peak. This usually results in most human souls permanently having a youthful appearance and a healthy body.
Superhuman Physiology: Whilst most humans have very inferior physical abilities when compared to those of a god, some exceptional individuals have the power to compete against their creators. Some humans also have unique abilities, either through divine intervention (like Adam), through a rare medical condition (like Raiden) or through other methods.
Ascension to Godhood [ ]
It is possible for a human to become a god. This can be done through a variety of methods, such as drinking Ambrosia (like Heracles) or by reaching enlightenment (like Buddha).

Overview [ ]
Most gods can be found within Heaven, with a few notable exceptions, such as Hades the ruler of Hell.
Gods have a very humanoid appearance, being very similar to that of a human. However some also have been shown to possess non human traits, such as extra limbs or eyes.
Origins and History [ ]
The origin of the Gods are currently unknown, but what is known is that at some point the Titanomachy tournament occurred, in which gods fought against titans. The Gods were victorious and Zeus became their leader after killing his father, Kronos.
Culture [ ]
While the intricacies of their culture are unknown, what is known is that the Gods focus and pay respect to strength. For instance, Shiva became the leader of the Hindu pantheon by challenging and defeating all the other Hindu gods in battle.
Another example can be seen with Zeus who, despite being the youngest of his brothers, became the king of Olympus after defeating Kronos, who was the strongest titan.
Every 1000 years the gods gather in a council to vote on whether or not humanity should continue existing.
Demigods [ ]
Demigods are half god and half human deities. The difference between a demigod and a full god is very unclear. A demigod is not a human who became a god, since Buddha is considered a full god (despite being born as a human). Demigods are also not necessarily weaker than full gods, since Heracles is more powerful then most gods, despite being a demigod. The common characteristic among all Demigods and what seems to separate them from the gods is their deep connection with humanity.
Powers & Abilities [ ]
Divine Physiology: Most Gods have physical abilities far greater than most humans. They are also immune to all attacks with manmade weapons, however, they can still be harmed by divine weapons and by unarmed attacks from individuals with superhuman strength. Some gods also have supernatural abilities, such as Thor’s electrokinesis or Zerofuku’s misfortune manipulation.
Semi-Immortality: Gods seem to be incapable of dying due to old age. They also appear to be mostly immune to the effects of time, aging slower than humans or not aging entirely. However, they can still be killed by other means.
Divine Weapon creation: Gods have the ability to forge divine weapons. These weapons are superior to any man made weapons and are one of the main reasons for the gods’ tremendous power over humanity.

Every 1000 years, gods of every pantheon convene and hold a conference to decide the fate of humanity by calling a vote to determine whether or not the human race should continue living or go extinct. With the most recent of these conferences having concluded, the gods unanimously decided to put humanity to an end. However, at the very last second, the eldest of the Valkyries, accompanied by the youngest, intervened and made the bold proposition to let humanity have a say in their fate by letting them go against the gods in a series of one-on-one fights to see if they are worthy of continuing to exist. Afraid to let go of their pride, the gods accept this proposal. Thirteen gods will fight against thirteen human champions. The first side to reach seven victories will decide humanity’s fate.

10 Best Record Of Ragnarok Main Characters, Ranked
From Shiva to Adam, which of the Record of Ragnarok characters do fans love the most. and why?
Record of Ragnarok has only recently taken the anime world by storm, but it has been dazzling manga readers with peak usage of the battle formula for the last couple of years. Since then, it has used its straightforward, battle setting to efficiently reveal tell the stories of its main characters and contestants.
When two competitors step into that arena, their styles are apparent, their values are expressed in great, frenetic action, and their character arcs are fleshed out within a couple episodes when other battle series would typically take years. That just means that Record of Ragnarok has managed to already bring a variety of new and distinct characters to anime fans, with many already gunning to be people’s fan favorites.
10 Göll
Göll is the youngest of the Valkyrie sisters and essentially Brunhilde’s sidekick. Her trademark is her inherent timidity and lack of knowledge of the various histories and dynamics going into the fights, essentially making her the fill in character for the audience and the catalyst for a lot of the story’s exposition.
That is in no way a weakness given Record of Ragnarok’s reach between different cultures (with the added benefit of some liberal interpretations) and the fact that this helps make Göll the bleeding heart of the story. While it would be nice for humanity to reach seven wins sooner than later, the story will also likely use every historical figure and Valkyrie, meaning that Göll may also be joining the tournament at some point.
9 Shiva
In more ways than one, Shiva is the obvious hot head of the Gods’ team. As a god of destruction and the leader of the Hindu Pantheon, Shiva has a lot to offer and a lot to prove as a fighter. For much of the early story, he offered plenty of hilarious bits where he was itching to get into the ring, only to be side stepped by one of his peers.
This let Shiva sit a little longer in the fans’ imaginations and hype up his eventual fight. When his turn did come up, the bratty god didn’t disappoint, and he had an absolutely incredible opponent in Raiden Tameemon.
8 Loki
Record of Ragnarok has a fun interpretation of the Norse god of mischief. While most other incarnations have him dressed in traditional, Norse garb or, at least, something more colorful, Record of Ragnarok has the trickster wear a butler’s uniform, appearing more formal and restrained.
This has helped him slip into the sly and vengeful archetype of anime character, a devilish bad boy just waiting to remove his cuff links. Disappointingly, Loki hasn’t had a chance to fight, let alone show some mischief, but he has done a great job of being the series’ lead commentator, analyzing and critiquing the abilities and moves of the fighters.
7 Brunhilde
For all intents and purposes, Brunhilde is the real main character of the story, though the story formula is gonna focus most of the story on the fights and backstories of the contestants. As the person who set the story’s events in motion and the manager of humanity’s team, much of the tournament’s stakes and consequences are going to be tied back to Brunhilde who will live up every victory and be remorseful after every defeat.
With that being said, as essentially humanity’s tactician, Brunhilde has also had a few animated moments where she’s shown her dark and twisted side. A responsible agent for all of humanity and a strong female character with plenty of tricks and personality under her sleeve, Brunhilde is the right person to be telling this story through.
6 Heracles
Given that any of them can be erased from existence almost as soon as they debut, all of the competitors for the tournament have to immediately connect with the audience in some way, and few characters in the series have managed to do so as quickly and effectively as Heracles.
As soon as his broad shoulders appeared in the story, he immediately emanated a natural, palpable sense of love and respect that most only feel through older siblings. While the Gods are playing the villains in this story (assuming viewers and readers are human), Heracles worked to represent both sides and became one of the few characters that everyone was rooting for.
5 Buddha
Buddha is one of the few fighters to be introduced in advance; but even without a fight, Buddha would already jump at fans as one of the coolest characters in the story. Oozing some of the most «whatever» energy ever seen in manga, Buddha is a calm, collected character who became a wild card for the story given how hard it was to read his intentions.
This suspicion would be rewarded in spades when he shockingly switched over to humanity’s side. As the series went over his backstory, his respect to the fans only went higher as Buddha’s reimagined legacy just kept getting cooler and cooler.
4 Zeus
A lot of stories love to envision Zeus as this large and muscular old man with a white beard and long hair. Record of Ragnarok however makes another interesting twist and dresses Zeus up as a deceptively small and wrinkled old man who, beneath the beard, is one of the series’ strongest characters. His face alone makes him more distinct than anyone else, as its cartoonish features and malleability make for some memorable reaction shots.
However, what shines most in him is his childish and arrogant personality. The ultimate culmination of what it means to be an empowered and entitled god, Zeus has come off frighteningly childish and self-centered in his story. This only becomes even more frightening when he reveals his true powers.
3 Jack The Ripper
While Heracles was a God who proved to be the ultimate hero, Jack the Ripper was a human meant to play his villain. Hated for both his historical infamy and gall to represent humanity, Jack and his version of the anime anti-hero had an interesting dynamic with the audience when he debuted.
While many want to root for humanity, is Jack the Ripper the face of humanity that people want to literally live by? This thematic conflict made Jack one of the most engaging characters in the story so far. It certainly helped that he’s had the most unique and clever fights yet.
2 Kojiro Sasaki
At a time when humanity was on a losing streak, it’s best bet was on the greatest loser in all of history, Kojiro Sasaki. While there are plenty of famous samurai to choose from Japan’s canon (just look at their historical fiction or samurai films), few have the same, diverse history that Sasaki has.
As the ultimate student of swordplay, Sasaki was able to utilize the teachings from some of his era’s greatest swordsmen and, by extension, prove the value of losing/learning experiences when he faced Poseidon. Brimming with humility, Sasaki was the perfect person to break humanity’s losing streak.
1 Adam
As the #1 human, Adam represented a lot during his story. Humanity was already down one fight when he debuted, and he was up against the most powerful and arrogant of all the gods, Zeus. Adam, however, not only had the incredible physique and gentle looks of a J-Pop star, but his line about wanting to defend his children, i.e. all of humanity, gave him the best dad vibes ever imagined in any story.
While many battle series try to suspend disbelief with long, detailed backstories, Adam was able to immediately connect with fans by appearing as if he truly was defending them.

Сначала отступление. Если не ошибаюсь, это уже 3-е бойцовское аниме из-под крыла Нетфликса. Первым было возвращение Baki, затем Kengan Ashura и теперь Shuumatsu no Walkure. Во всех трех вижу схожую закономерность, но в Рагнароке это особенно выделилось: представители Нетфликса будто говорят анимационной группе, чтобы они снимали бои с таким темпом, как это делают в сотых-двухсотых сериях бесконечных сёненов, то есть как можно медленнее и неторопливее, чтобы процесс съемок можно было продлить на как можно большее количество сезонов. Уверен, если бы они добавили в эти 12-ть серий 4-й раунд, это только бы положительно повлияло на всё и сразу.
Боги. Людей, впрочем, поместим в ту же категорию характеров. В качестве представителей обеих сторон — легендарных воителей, полководцев, человеческих кумиров ака богов, и прочих элит нашей истории — увидел высокомерное, вспыльчивое и неуравновешенное быдло. Допустим ладно, пускай Шива две тысячи лет назад вел себя как японский гопник, но за две тысячи лет у него не произошло никаких корректировок в характере, в то время как некоторым людям для саморефлексии и смены вектора достаточно всего пары лет? Кому-то требуется половина человеческой жизни, но 2000 лет? Скажу честно, не хотелось бы мне таких кумиров или руководителей. Время в тайтле линейное, как смог понять, и время турнира соответствует времени созданию манги — он в условном 2017 г., потому как на арену призывают только героев более ранних эпох (новейший из 20 века).
На трибунах по обе стороны как богов так и людей тоже сидят, как бы выразиться, аналоги фанатов футбола или реслинга :). Хотят хлеба и зрелищ, рыдают (как от горя, так и от счастья), льют нечистотами представителей оппонента. У всей массовки, разом, перехватывает дыхание, когда происходит очередной твист на арене и инициатива переходит в руки оппонента. Полагаю, все 13 схваток эта схема так и будет повторяться по 3 раза на бой :). Порадовались, попугались, опять порадовались и назвали команду противника лопухами, которые не разбираются в матчасти.
Впечатления по результатам поединков. Расстроен финалом боя Адама. Еще не зная толком о сюжете тайтла сразу понял, что это имба. И как бы его противника не вытягивали в более выгодном свете, я не согласен с результатом боя. Не согласен также с результатом 3-го боя. В 12-й серии один из бойцов буквально «пробивает собой дно» :), и мне показалось, это описывает его дальнейшую победу. Его противник просто вел себя максимально аморфно, будто бы специально ради контраста с представителем своей стороны из 2-го боя. Возможности арены также не были задействованы, а я сразу начал крутить в голове как она будет использоваться против человеческой стороны.
Глупо, карикатурно смешно и настолько же пафосно — 6/10.
